The Central African Republic (CAR) has a basically agricultural economy supplemented by the export of diamonds. Agriculture engages about 85% of the workforce and produces about half of GDP. Subsistence agriculture, together with forestry, remains the backbone of the economy of the Central African Republic (CAR), with more than 70% of the population living in outlying areas. Coffee, tobacco, timber and cotton are the CAR's principal export crops. Livestock is also raised. The country suffers as a result of its isolation from its major markets, deteriorating transportation infrastructure, and largely unskilled workforce. The communication network also is limited. A large number of Central Africa Republic tenders and RFP's float from Consultancy Services and Services auxiliary to Financial Intermediation.
